Tuscany 2018

In the month of August 2018, while visiting my home country, I had the opportunity to help the owner of a small olive tree orchard in Tuscany to prune the dead branches from the trees.

The trees were severely damaged due to a few days of severe cold during the month of January. Quite a few trees were partially damaged, and fortunately only a few of them were almost totally damaged. It was interesting to see that the young trees suffered less than older and more established trees.
By removing the dead branches the trees will have the nutrients flowing into the healthy branches, without wasting energy to feed something that’s already dead.
